For the very first time in the history of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), the ruling party, a talented young woman has declared her candidacy for the prestigious position of Secretary General. Her name is Mrs. Fatmata Bimbisifoi, a rising figure on the national political scene.
Her commitment, boldness, and vision have been praised at the highest levels. The President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, H.E. Julius Maada Bio, retired brigadier general and Head of State, personally extended his congratulations to her for her courage and strong sense of duty to the party and the people.
Internationally, this groundbreaking candidacy has also received positive attention. Several Belgian national deputies have expressed their support for Mrs. Fatmata, whom they already see as the leading contender in the June 7, 2025 election for the position of SLPP Secretary General.
Founded in the 1950s and historically backed by the Mende ethnic group from the south of the country, the SLPP continues to shape Sierra Leone’s political history by embracing youth and gender inclusion.
