The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) Hospital at Kingtom has not only expanded its medical operations to more police personnel and the surrounding communities but also got a facelift with modern medical equipment and facilities.

Such improvements were made in less than one year of William Fayia Sellu’s assumption to the office of the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Speaking to the Deputy Director and Medical Superintendent of the SLP Hospital, ASP Dr. John M. Conteh, commended the IGP, whom he said has tremendously changed the status of the hospital by improving the hospital’s operational systems, installing medical equipment to ease the work of personnel, as well as creating a conducive abode for both admitted and out-patients.

He further revealed that the IGP has installed laundry machines within the hospital, equipped the laboratory with test machines and constructed a well-ventilated room for sample collection; and he also boasted of a permanent chart system for all patients. “As I stand before you, I am feeling very proud for such a rapid transformation in our hospital. I will like to express my thanks and appreciation to the IGP, his wife- Mrs. Maltida Doris Sellu, and the Executive Management Board (EMB) of the SLP for such a good job,” he said.
He highlighted few challenges the hospital face, but assured that amidst such challenges, plans are underway to establish an under-5 program, Dental clinic and an eye clinic, which would be a big boost to police officers and their families.

Doctor John Konteh noted that Spanish medical team have just left the shores of Freetown after completing successful surgeries on police personnel, their families, and the general public accordingto the team, they were more impressed with the way the people of Sierra Leone welcomed them and promised to continue with the bilateral relationship between the two countries. The deputy director and medical supretendent however informed Afriqu’ Europe Magazine that another set of Spanish medical doctors will be in Sierra Leone from 3rd of April to 8th of May 2024 for free surgery.
