Mamadou Saliou Diallo’s SONOCO Group, a company with Guinean capital, has been operating in Sierra Leone for several years now.
In Sierra Leone, the group is developing economic activities in a number of areas, including bakery, pastry-making and brewing, making it one of the biggest providers of jobs in President Julius Maada Bio’s country.
In addition to its economic activities, Société Nouvelle de Commerce, or SONOCO for short, has also embarked on vocational training for young people in Sierra Leone. In Sierra Leone, Guinean businessman Saliou Diallo has set up a pastry-making training centre where young people can learn and create their own small production units. It’s a way for the boss of the SONOCO group to contribute to the development of Sierra Leone through youth entrepreneurship. Every year, the Bread Avenue centre welcomes young people and others who want to develop their pastry-making skills. This is the best way for the group to help combat unemployment, food shortages and provide education for the people of Sierra Leone.
